EMPOWERING YOUTH TO REDUCE GUN VIOLENCE IN SEATTLE

The 4 Peace Community Safety Campaign is a youth-focused initiative designed to reduce gun violence through education, awareness, and community empowerment. The campaign emphasizes four key steps to safety.

By implementing these steps, the campaign aims to create a safer environment for young people and reduce the prevalence of gun violence in Seattle and King County.

4 STEPS TO SAFETY

STAY ALERT

Encourage individuals to be mindful of their surroundings at all times.

SEEK SAFETY

Promote the importance of moving to a secure location when feeling unsafe and seeking support from others.

REPORT IT

Emphasize the significance of reporting suspicious activity to authorities using the "See Something, Say Something" approach.

SUPPORT EACH OTHER

Foster a sense of community and mutual support for youth.

The 4 Peace Campaign is a part of the 100 Days of Peace.  The 100 Days of Peace is a coordinated effort to address the issue of gun violence in our most impacted neighborhoods in the City of Seattle and King County.  For the next 3 months, a collaborative team of community and civic leaders will roll out a coordinated prevention and intervention plan aimed specifically at residents with the highest risk of being a victim or perpetrator of gun violence with the goal of increased community safety for all.

CORE VALUES

  • Community Empowerment: Encouraging youth to take an active role in their safety and the safety of their community.

  • Education: Providing information and resources on gun safety, conflict resolution, and mental health.

  • Prevention: Focusing on proactive measures to reduce gun violence rather than solely reactive responses.

  • Collaboration: Partnering with schools, law enforcement, and community organizations to achieve shared goals.

CAMPAIGN GOALS

  • Increase awareness of gun violence and its impact on the community.

  • Equip youth with the knowledge and skills to prevent and respond to dangerous situations.

  • Foster a sense of unity and support among young people.

  • Reduce gun-related incidents and injuries within the targeted communities.
