Keys to Our Success

At Urban Family, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, connected, and cared for, and we are committed to transforming communities through unwavering support and relentless engagement. We believe in nurturing the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of individuals and families, and we actively work to dismantle systemic inequities to build a more just and equitable society. We envision thriving communities where empowered young adults become leaders, shaping a brighter future for themselves and society—and we are these people.

Our work is guided by:

  • Holistic Approach: Supporting the whole person and family in their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

  • Relentless Engagement: Showing up consistently to walk alongside families and youth with unwavering care.

  • Culturally Responsive Services: Honoring the diverse identities of our community in every aspect of our programs.

  • Collaborative Partnerships: Working together with families, schools, and community leaders to build lasting change.

  • Sustainable Funding and Resources: Ensuring the stability and growth of our programs so that families can continue to thrive.

Equity and Belonging

Urban Family values diversity, and this is reflected in every aspect of our work—from the individuals and communities we serve across South King County to the culture we cultivate among our staff, volunteers, and partners. We understand that historic and structural inequities have shaped each of us, and we carry this awareness into our commitment to deliberately cultivate the success of all people while treating everyone with dignity, humanity, and respect.

We believe our ability to create lasting, sustainable change is strengthened when diverse individuals, beliefs, and perspectives are included and honored. Urban Family models an institutional commitment to equity by investing resources at every level, building systems that remove barriers, and working toward measurable indicators of change as we co-create safe, thriving communities across South King County.
